Prosecutor: Motives Unclear Of Men Who Left Wounded Dog At Paramus Hospital

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal renewed the call on Monday for help finding two men who dumped a severely injured dog at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus earlier this month.

The 2-year-old Akita mix – believed to have come from in or around Mahwah or southern Rockland County – had to be euthanized after being dropped off on Nov. 3 “Due to severity of injuries and to alleviate suffering,” Bergen County SPCA Chief Roni Wildoner said.

The occupants of a black Lincoln Navigator with New York license plates came to the hospital around 5 p.m. Friday, giving conflicting stories of finding the wounded dog either in the woods in Mahwah or at a Rockland County construction site, Wildoner said.

“It is unclear if the two men are good Samaritans,” Grewal, the county prosecutor, added on Monday.
